Michelle Parvin is the President, CEO and Founder of DataGrinder Management Consulting & Analysis, Inc.  A former analyst with both the State of Nevada and the City of Reno, Michelle has held a variety of positions of responsibility in the areas of human resources, fiscal, and risk management during her 27-year government career.  In her most recent position, she administered all aspects of the City’s self-funded workers’ compensation program with an annual operating budget of approximately $5.5 M.

She holds a Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), as well as a Certificate in Public Management from UNR Extended Studies, and an Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation from the American Institute of Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriters.

Michelle is currently a member of the Institute of Management Consultants-USA and the Society for Human Resource Management.  She formerly held offices in the Northern Nevada chapters of the International Personnel Management Association and the Nevada Self-Insurers Association.  In addition, she was an initial member of the governor-appointed Board of Directors for the Nevada Public Employees Benefits Program (PEBP), and a 6-year member of the City of Reno’s Employee Advisory Insurance Committee for self-funded group health plans.  In October 2008, Michelle was appointed to serve on the Advisory Board of the Washoe County Human Services Consortium.

When she’s not inking ideas or spinning spreadsheets, Michelle haunts bookstores to stay current on business and socioeconomic trends and insights.  Known for her dry but clean (but not dry-cleaned) sense of humor, Michelle has been recognized for her ability to enthusiastically present potentially dull or complex subject matter in an interesting, fun and understandable manner, often to the surprise (and relief!) of her unsuspecting audiences.
